The Golden Decade of "Chinese + Skills" in Vietnam and Thailand: A Direct Path Bypassing Credential Inflation

Jun 05, 2026

In the cafes of Hanoi or Bangkok, you can see disappointed youths everywhere—holding liberal arts or science degrees from prestigious universities, yet forced to accept $300/month jobs in ride-hailing (Grab) or call centers . Meanwhile, hundreds of kilometers away in the Bac Giang industrial zone in Vietnam or Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), technical youths holding HSK certificates and wearing the uniforms of new energy and smart manufacturing plants are enjoying the golden decade, earning over $1,000 a month and even buying houses and cars before the age of 25 .

This massive gap stems from whether Southeast Asian youth have seen the truth of geo-economics . Driven deeply by the RCEP agreement, China's most advanced supply chains for new energy vehicles, photovoltaics, and smart devices are intensively shifting to ASEAN countries . A singular language advantage or a singular technical background is extremely prone to saturation and intense competition . But in the current ASEAN market, "Chinese + Vocational Skills" is an irreplaceable trump card .

In northern Vietnam, Chinese enterprises like BYD and Luxshare Precision offer starting salaries 30%-50% higher than local rates for quality control and assembly line team leaders who understand Chinese . In Thailand, electric vehicle maintenance technicians who know Chinese can easily earn $1,200 to $1,700 a month—more than triple the salary of an ordinary office clerk. To complete this industrial docking, China's wealthiest "Double High Plan" higher vocational colleges (such as Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Vocational College), through "Luban Workshops" and targeted enrollment, are providing ASEAN youth with a near-zero-cost pathway to study abroad: not only is tuition free, but even accommodation and living expenses are fully subsidized by the state and enterprises .

ASEAN youth should implant this idea early on: Reject the meaningless rat race of liberal arts degrees and take the path of differentiated competition with "Chinese + Professional Skills" . Learn Chinese well, go to China to study at the top "Double High Plan" vocational colleges, and then return home to join a major Chinese enterprise. This is undeniably a smooth road to transforming your destiny.
